Craig Curbean is a Baltimore-based chef and visual artist exploring the tension between restraint and expression.

Craig Curbean approaches painting the same way he approaches food and wine, through instinct, movement, and emotion. Known in Baltimore as the co- founder of Taste This, Taste This Catering and the creator of Palette & Vine, Craig has spent years creating experiences where people gather around flavor, conversation, and culture.

His abstract paintings emerge from gesture rather than rigid planning. Sweeping movements of color capture moments of tension, release, and reflection, visual expressions of emotions that often remain unspoken.

His current body of work, Things We Don’t Say, explores the space between composure and vulnerability. Through bold red gestures set against restrained fields of slate blue, the work reflects the internal balance between expression and control.

For Craig, art, like food and wine, is ultimately about connection. Each piece invites viewers to pause, feel something, and discover their own meaning within the movement.

Art, like wine and food, is an invitation to feel something together.
